Large watercolours

These paintings form a core aspect of the work. They include responses to natural forms, contemplation and experimentation with media such as ochres and multiple layering of watercolour in the Equinox works. There are works inspired by William Blake, revisiting metaphysical themes of the past. Ideas and experiences, suggestive rather than defined exist between the symbolic and representational. Text occupies part of the work in a reflective presence, recounting artists who have inhabited and ignited my imagination as allies. Outlines of recalled human and animal forms share the spaces, while the two black ink symbolic poles are bridged by white graphic gestural marks, referencing medieval interpretations of cloud and wind formations and the movement of water. Binary presentations of male and female forces.
